Oak Bug Hotel
We are on a mission to make bug hotels that are kind to the environment in every way.
Oak Garden Mushrooms
Carved with an axe and then sanded until smooth the mushrooms lean out of their base giving them a natural sense of movement.
Oak Sculpture
An abstract sculpture in oak. Flowing with the natural contours of the wood the piece is made from a single oak log. The hollows offer glimpses into the foliage beyond while breaking up the pieces volume.
Laburnum Bug Hotel
A recent commission for a garden in Bedfordshire. Made of wood from the Laburnum tree the piece showcases the natural contrast of pale sap wood meeting dark heartwood. While the exotic look of the wood could be mistaken for a tropical species the material was sourced from a local tree surgeon in the Bedford Area.
Woodland Bug Hotel
Made from a a log cleft in two and smoothed with a draw knife. The holes accommodate a range of solitary bees and other invertebrates. The roof, secured by two oak pegs ensures the worst of the weather is kept out.
